About Me and the Services I Provide

It has been a privilege to serve our community for almost 20 years as a practicing social worker in the Greater Houston area. Prior to that I worked in The Greater New Orleans Area as a Corporate Relations Coordinator, bridging corporate assistance for non-profit social service agencies.  I held positions within Juvenile Court Services at a detention center and an alternative school for youth.  I have proudly worked in three Houston public school districts and acquired the Certified School Social Work Specialist recognition from The National Association of Social Workers.  In our schools, I provided counseling, play therapy and supportive services to hundreds of children, adolescents and families addressing a range of issues and alleviating emotional stress and pain that was impacting their lives. My experience also consists of counseling and crisis work in a local Family Violence Center at Northwest Assistance Ministries, helping families to recover from the trauma of domestic violence.  I have also worked in the Texas Medical Center offering support, counseling and crisis counseling to  beloved patients and families managing life-threatening illness.

I obtained my master's degree from The University of Houston, Graduate School of Social Work.  I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners, and beyond that obtained the Supervisory Status from the Board.  I also hold The Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.  I am a Registered Play Therapist, which entails extensive specialized play therapy education, training and experience; additionally I earned the Registered Play Therapist Supervisory credential.

At times, we get impacted by Life events, or just need help addressing issues and concerns that impact our quality of life.  My hope is that in working together, we can honor and appreciate self and others in our lives, while growing through difficulties with enhanced coping.  We all want to be seen, heard and understood, and further to be cherished for who we are.  As we set goals for our work together, I will encourage clients to honor the unique gifts and paths of individuals within their families as they work towards fully experiencing love and a connection to joy in their lives.
